Naples, FL, May 7th, 2024 — One of Collier County's most iconic restaurants has reopened after being destroyed by Hurricane Ian in 2022.
The Turtle Club at the Vanderbilt Beach Resort hosted its re-opening Monday after spending the last 19 months rebuilding the facilities.
“Iconic. Iconic. There’s not a better restaurant where you can put your toes in the sand with a more beautiful view in Naples. I don’t care where you go; this is the place. Goosebumps. Goosebumps. We’ve been waiting for this," said Lauren McGarel of Vanderbilt Beach.
NBC2 was at Vanderbilt Beach this morning to witness the line of residents and tourists alike that arrived in the early hours to secure a table for the first come, first serve lunch. Over the hours our crews were on the beach, there was not a single open table.
“It means a lot. We’ve always been coming here. It’s always been a staple in my life. It’s great to see that people are coming back. Enjoying it. It’s just great. Can’t get any better than this," added Terry Barber of North Naples.
Reservations opened at 9 am Monday, and the restaurant is now already booked up until the end of June.
“It’s a step in the right direction. We have so many memories here, and I’ll forever love this place," said Laurie Jeremias of Vanderbilt Beach.
